A fair bit of water has gone under the Arrow Bridges since November 2021 when we thought we would be launching the inaugural Cyclorama e-Bike Festival in Arrowtown. Stymied by the ongoing pandemic, we put the brakes on, rescheduling the event to Labour Weekend this year. We’ve learned more about the industry, conducted more research (yes – the Flachau e-Bike Festival in Austria was definitely worth a look) consolidated our trail ride offering, launched a new ride, tweaked other rides, and gone all out with the Festival Village. We reckon you won’t want to miss Cyclorama 2022!
The Tour de Gourmet, Pedaling Pinot and The Hop Trail curated trail rides are all set to feature again this year, with some time slots already sold out. The adrenaline hunters might prefer a whip up Mt Rosa on Ride to the Sky, while the nature lovers should cruise around Lake Hayes/Wai Whaka Ata trail as part of Awake with the Birds. New out of the starting gate this year is Ginology, a celebration of the botanical process behind gin distilling, which will take place at a special location on the Arrow River Bridges Trail.
Core to the festival is showcasing the myriad wonders of not only the trails around the Whakatipu, but also the wonderful hospitality of Arrowtown. That’s why each curated trail ride winds up at a location befitting the ride – a bar celebrating cocktails, a pub honouring local brews, a cellar showcasing local wines, nosh in the heart of the historic precinct – you name it, these stops are the icing on the cake!
And to top it all off, the Festival Village located on Butler’s Green will showcase everything e-Bike – bike brands and retailers, gear suppliers and local experts. Come and find out about the e-Bike phenomenon from the teams at Moustache, Bikeaholic, Outside Sports, Torpedo 7, Alta, Aeroe, Eiger Bikes, Bike Glendhu and Kiwi e-Cycle…to name a few. There’ll be food stalls, activities for families, a chill zone, our resident bike doctor and live music.
Check out the ride program and lock yourself in for a fun experience in Arrowtown. We’ll see you there!
